Want a plan to help keep you on track?
Northeast Georgia Physician’s Group (NGPG) Bariatric & Metabolic Institute (BMI) is one of the region’s only weight loss centers to offer surgical and nonsurgical weight loss options.
To meet the needs of our entire community, we offer multiple nonsurgical weight loss options. We understand that surgery is not the best solution for every patient and customize your treatment to your unique needs.
We now also have access to a new FDA-cleared prescription weight loss device called Plenity that helps you feel fuller, so you eat less. Plenity is our latest tool to treat patients who are struggling with their weight. We are one of the first in the nation to offer this new FDA-cleared prescription weight management tool. The device is a first-of-its-kind tool made from naturally derived building blocks cellulose and citric acid.
While Plenity will be widely available in 2021, NGPG BMI is a part of the Early Prescribing Program. This means we have a limited supply of prescriptions for our patients with BMI 25 to 40 in 2020. Patients on Plenity will take three capsules twice a day, 20 minutes before lunch and dinner, with 16 ounces of water.
FDA approved weight loss medications
For patients who have a BMI over 27 with one weight-related medical condition or BMI over 30, there are a variety of FDA approved weight loss medications such as Saxenda, Qsymia, Contrave, or Xenical.

Non-invasive weight loss option
For patients who want to explore other FDA approved non-invasive options, NGPG can also offer gastric balloon treatment. Intragastric balloon is approved for patients with a body mass index between 30 and 40. If a patient chooses this option, we will work with the surgical weight loss team to coordinate treatment.
