A healthcare executive with deep roots in the region who has vast experience at all levels, from the front lines as a registered nurse through administrative leadership, has joined Georgia Heart Institute. Haley Harrison is serving as the institute’s Vice President, with oversight of the comprehensive heart and vascular service lines of Northeast Georgia Health System (NGHS).

Harrison most recently served as executive director of Piedmont Heart. She also previously served as chief nursing officer at Piedmont Walton Hospital and as director of physician operations for Piedmont Heart. Joining Georgia Heart Institute is a homecoming of sorts, as she previously worked with NGHS as a clinical simulation nurse educator after starting her career as a registered nurse providing emergency care.

“I am thrilled to have this opportunity to lead the dedicated and talented team at Georgia Heart Institute,” said Harrison. “I was attracted by the practice’s commitment to being Georgia’s most forward-thinking heart and vascular program, and I look forward to supporting our talented clinicians and staff who continually save lives and improve the health of our community.”

Harrison earned her nursing degree from Medical College of Georgia and received her master’s degree in Nursing from the University of West Georgia.

“Haley Harrison is a perfect fit to continue advancing the care we provide through Georgia Heart Institute,” said Vik Reddy, MD, chief clinical officer for NGHS. “Not only does she bring an intimate knowledge of this region and the communities we serve, but she also has a diverse background as a leader, a track record of driving operational improvement and experience elevating patient care and satisfaction.”

Georgia Heart Institute is the most forward-thinking heart and vascular program in the state and includes one of the largest cardiology practices in the region, including more than 120 clinicians seeing patients at more than a dozen locations. With a multi-disciplinary team of experts treating nearly every type of heart and vascular disease and participating in leading national research, the institute provides advanced care that ensures lasting heart health for generations.
