One of Northeast Georgia Health System’s (NGHS) leaders continues to be recognized for his efforts to put technology to work to benefit both patients and healthcare providers. Healthcare trade publication Becker’s Hospital Review recently included Chris Paravate, NGHS chief information officer (CIO), on its list of “133 CIOs to Know,” for the second year in a row.
Paravate has served as CIO for NGHS since 2014, overseeing the information technology, clinical informatics, biomedical equipment and telecommunications departments for the system’s five hospital campuses and more than 100 other physician offices and care locations.
Becker’s noted that Paravate led the launch of the Epic electronic health record (EHR) system at NGHS, and that he collaborated with Longstreet Clinic as the health system’s first Community Connect partner on the same Epic platform, among other accomplishments.
“We are so proud of Chris and grateful for all he does for our patients and the communities we serve,” said Carol Burrell, president and CEO of the health system. “Through his strategic guidance, he has helped us continually optimize and improve how we operate as a business and, more importantly, how we care for people. Chris’ leadership has helped put NGHS on a path to thrive for generations to come.”
